16.9.11

Since this is still the first couple of posts I'll still be warming up the atmosphere in here - I'll continue a bit where I left off.

Anyway, I have truly hit the ground running - I've said this over and over again but every single day I'm here I re-realise this. It's been extremely surreal, I haven't really had time to sit down and really think about this. One minute I was back in my bedroom in Brunei, rolling around in my pyjamas clicking about on Sims Social, the next minute I'm sealed into a metal tube with two suitcases and sent hurtling through the stratosphere towards Graduate Life.

A lot of people have been asking for pictures, I've been so caught up I honestly haven't had the time to take pictures until today. I finally charged up my faithful pink camera (she's been through a lot with me!) and took her around the campus. So I'll start building up a small album and probably upload it onto facebook so my Mom can take a look.

In terms of where I am, what I'm doing - I'm so.... How do I describe it?
There's just so much on my plate every single day I haven't had time to plan beyond tomorrow.
I haven't gone sightseeing yet - I've only been around Georgetown and a number of other places purely for the furniture/homeware shopping.

-- Here's one of my usual digressions again: The first two weeks of being here was furniture madness. When I landed I didn't have accommodation, but thankfully I found one really quick - a friend of a friend was looking to turn her living room into a bedroom so here I am now - but as per usual in America, the place was completely unfurnished. So I had to buy a bed frame a mattress duvet duvet cover bedsheets pillows pillowcases... a DESK, desk chair, lamps... BASICALLY EVERYTHING LAH AH!

And it's been really "fun" on the one hand, cos I've never really had to furnish my own apartment so I love how much character my room has taken on. On the other hand, very stressful. I'm trying to keep to a strict budget because D.C. living is obviously extremely expensive (I'm not used to it, I lived in Warwick for three years and it wasn't London, you know? Kampung girl, not used to big city life. Haha.) so a lot of the furniture I got was second-hand but it's been so good! Like IKEA is mahal-ish here and I've managed to find some extremely good deals... I'll not get into details right now.

Where was I? Oh yes, haven't gone sightseeing. Yeah... I need to do so soon though. I'm planning to go around this weekend because I'm only going to get busier so I should get some out of the way when I can. I've got loads of reading to cover this weekend (I'm actually procrastinating right now, can you tell?) so I'lll..... Start on that now. And pop in to talk to myself a bit more later perhaps.

K bye! Also - I realise this really is just me talking to myself, isn't it? And I've never really been a commentbox kinda person (I don't want people trying to sell me kain...........) but maybe I should add that in so you could, you know, pop in and say hi sometime.
